Jeweldean Allcock (nee Dunning)
Age 87 of Portage passed away Monday, July 28, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Robert "Jewell" and Lerleen (nee Park) Dunning in Graves Co. Kentucky. She was a 1956 high school graduate of Symsonia High School and earned a certificate in bookkeeping for Draughn's Business College. After college she had several jobs; switchboard operator at an insurance company in Toledo, Ohio, she also worked at Clausner's Hosiery Company in Paducah, KY with her friend Kat who fixed her up with her brother Roger. On November 1, 1961, Jeweldean married Roger F. Allcock, and they spent 59 loving years together before his passing on July 21, 2020. Jeweldean retired from Graves Co. Kentucky Schools where she worked as a teacher's assistant. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Jeweldean loved sports especially the Chicago Cubs and University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball. She was homemaker while raising their family and was active in her church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and making ceramics. She never passed up an opportunity to go to the beach and admire the view of Lake Michigan on a sunny day.
Jeweldean is survived by her two loving children, son, Roger (Lisa) Allcock and daughter, Lisa (Michael) Kovacs; grandchildren, Heather (David) Price, Ashely (Kevin) Ksenak, Tim Norris, Debbie Allcock, Michael Kovacs and Cara Kovacs; great grandchildren, Emily, Derrik, Cheyenne, Mark and Hunter and many other loving family members and friends. A special family friend, Vicki (Tony) DeLeon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger F. Allcock; son, Michael Wayne Allcock; father, Robert "Jewell" Dunning; mother, Lerleen Dunning; brother, Lloyd Dunning and sister, Parilee Farmer.
A funeral service for Jeweldean will be held Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:30 am with Pastor Mitchell Tabla officiating at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. The burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville. A visitation will also be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of service at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
