Jim Allen Parnell, age 74, of Portage passed away Friday July 5, 2013 in Advocate-Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. He was born June 18, 1939 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Jim David and Nina (Barfield) Parnell. Jim retired as a route salesman for Mickey's Linen Service. He was a member of the International Teamster's Union and enjoyed working with wood.

Jim is survived by his wife Louise "Lou" Parnell; his son Dan (Donna) Parnell of Wentzville, MO; two stepsons Billy Joe (Patricia) Wampler of Houston, TX and Jeffery Kyle Wampler of Georgia; five grandchildren Chad Parnell, Brittany Votrain, Crystal Robertson, Brittany Wampler and Gabrielle Wampler; one great granddaughter Ellie Votrain and his sister Mary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son David Parnell and one sister Ann.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday July 13, 2013 from 2-5 pm at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers.
