Obituary

James J. "Jim" Kish, age 67 of Gary passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024.  He was born on January 29,1957 to the late Joseph Sr. and Helen Kish.  Jim attended Andrean High School and graduated from Lew Wallace High School.  He was the owner and operator of the Conoco Station in Hobart.  He also worked as an Ace Percussionist.  Jim was an honored and respected man and was known best in life for his fun-loving spirit.  He was kind and considerate to others and always a pleasure to spend time with.  Jim cared for the environment and loved nature.  He had a great love and knowledge of music and was a creative force with the Time Traveler Trio.  Jim was a boy scout and volunteered at ARC working with children.  He loved traveling and had seen much of the United States.

He is survived by his life partner, Marie Fryar of Gary, IN;  one sister, Kathleen Kish of Wheeler, IN; sister-in-law, So Young Kish, two nieces, Kate Doxtater, and Nora (Josh) Raspopovich, his family of friends, Jimmy, Kathy, Johnny, Junior and loving cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Joe Kish Jr..

Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hobart.  There will be Funeral Mass for Jim on Friday June 7, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 107 Main St., Hobart Indiana with Rev. Benjamin Ross officiating.    (219) 942-2109 or www.Reesfuneralhomes.com.
