Obituary

James W. Schavey, age 52, of Phillips, Wisconsin and formerly of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020. He was born on August 9, 1968. He was currently employed as a team leader with Medisize. Jim was an animal lover and volunteered a lot of his time to American Greyhound, an organization that fosters Greyhound rescue.  He loved baseball and playing guitar. Jim will always be remembered for his vibrant sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Sally (nee Gyger) Schavey; daughter, Crystal (Nathan Fekete) Schavey; son, Ian Schavey; grandsons, Nicolas and Waylon; father, Dennis Schavey; sisters, Mikki Schavey and Samantha (Robert) Hawkins; mother-in-law, Loura Gyger; many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan; brother, Johnny Schavey; and father-in-law, Edward Gyger. Memorial contributions in Jim's name may be made to American Greyhound, Inc, at www.americangreyhound.org or PO Box 598, Hobart, IN 46342.

A memorial service for Jim will take place Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday from 3:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
