JIMMY RAY RING, age 55, of Lake Station, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 at home. Jimmy was a lifelong East Gary/Lake Station resident and graduated from Edison High School, class of 1974. He was a firefighter employed at the former Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor. Jimmy was a proud member of the 1972 Edison Football Team that was undefeated. He was very active coaching Little League Baseball and also serving as President of the League for 10 years. Jimmy also coached Pop Warner Football and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Debbie, son, Trinity (Chrissy) Burns of Portage, daughter, Carrie Ring (fiancé, Danny Johnson) of New Chicago, Mother, Helen Hyde of Portage, 4 grandchildren: Joshua, Destiny, Emily and Allyson, brother, Bob (Teresa) Ring of Valparaiso, sister, Karen Ring of Porter, several nieces & nephews and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his father, J.L. Ring, brother, Billy Ring, stepfather, Jim Hyde and stepmother, Mae Ring.
Visitation and funeral services will both be held Monday, February 28, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, with the visitation beginning at 2:00 PM until the funeral service begins at 7:00 PM with Kimberly Wiseman officiating.
