Jo Anne (nee Shake) Kemp, age 78 of Portage, a longtime resident, passed away on Saturday, May 19,2012 at Miller's Mary Manor in Portage. She was born in Sullivan, Indiana to Emit & Lola (nee Wilkinson) Shake on December 5, 1933. She was a life member of Portage 260 and VFW Post 7760. Jo Ann loved bowling and was on leagues for many years, friends and family will dearly miss her.
She is survived by her step- son; Bobby J. (Leona) Kemp of Portage and 2 step-daughters; Patricia Mitchell of Valparaiso and Diane (Dale) Howell of Valparaiso, 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren,and great-great-grandchildren, sister; Maxine Thrasher of Sullivan, Indiana and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie P Kemp (1995), her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services are Thursday, May 24,2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home- Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana, 46368.Visitation for Jo Anne is Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00 p.m. also at Rees Funeral Home- Olson Chapel, Portage.
