Joan G. Curtis (nee Evans), age 87 of Hobart passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015. She was born on July 27, 1928 in Gary, Indiana to the late Harvey and Agnes Evans. She was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and a former member of St. Francis Xavier. She was active in the Ladies Rosary Sodality and St. Vincent Depaul Society. Joan worked as a Medical Insurance Clerk for many years before retiring. She was a warm, caring, giving person who loved her family and friends dearly. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. Her faith was very important to her. We take great comfort in knowing she is in Heaven and is one of God's angels watching over us.
She is survived by two daughters, Louise (Vince) Mason of Camarillo, CA; Mary (Victor) Gillette of Wheatfield, IN; five sons, Paul Curtis of Hobart, IN; Dave (April) Curtis of Hobart, IN; Ralph (Robin) Curtis of Hobart, IN; Alan (Deanna) Curtis of Centennial, CO; Michael (Dawn) Curtis of Valparaiso, IN; one sister, Carol Lewis of Valparaiso, IN; one brother, Harvey (Carol) Evans of Merrillville, IN; 16 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Curtis, and one brother, Lynn Evans.
Joan's family would like to thank the Moses Caregivers for the wonderful compassionate care they gave to Joan.

Funeral services are Wednesday, September 16, 2015 beginning with 9:30 prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart and proceeding to St. Bridget Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
