Joan M. Miller

JOAN MILDRED MILLER, age 89, of Valparaiso and formerly of Villa Park, IL passed away May 14, 2019, at Avalon Springs.  She was born in St. Petersburg, FL on November 19, 1929, to the late R. Frank and Susan Miller. Joan made headlines in 2011 when, at age 81, broke her ankle after fulfilling an item on her bucket list: skydiving. Joan retired from Rush Medical Center in Chicago where she worked as a cytotechnologist. She was preceded in death by her life partner, LaVergne G. Niequist, and sisters Jeanette Cyrus, Marian Olsen, Margaret Altergott and Barbara Walz. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Cremation handled by Rees Funeral Homes and Cremation Service.
