Joan Moore, age 74, of Valparaiso passed away Monday, December 02, 2019, peacefully at home.  She was born on June 28, 1945 in Gary, Indiana to the late John August and Margaret Elizabeth (nee Armagast) Mecklenburg.  She had a long career at the Porter County Sheiff's Department where she began as a Jailer in 1984 working her way up to Matron, before retiring in 2018. Joan will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Joan is survived by her three loving daughters, Shannon (Terry) Troup, Rachel (Phil) Kearby and Jennifer (Joe) Shay and their father, Virgil Moore;  three grandchildren, Collin Troup, Joseph and James Shay; two great-grandchildren, Carter Lutinen and Austin Huck and other loving family members and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Kyle Kearby.
