JoAnn B. Burdett

JoAnn B. Burdett, age 84, a longtime resident of Lake Station passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010. She was born on November 14, 1926 in Michigan City the daughter of Ronald and Lottie Bowman. She was married to Richard Burdett on June 12, 1948 in Gary. JoAnn was employed as a teacher for Saint Francis Xavier School, and for Nativity Catholic School, and was the organist of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was a member of the Saint Francis Xavier Ladies Sodality and the Parish Choir. JoAnn was a lifetime member in the Lake Station Historical Society and a life member of the Lake Station Lions Club Auxiliary.
JoAnn is survived by her loving family; sons Michael Burdett, Whiting, and Mark Burdett, Lake Station, daughter Linda (Mark) Najar, Portage, grandchildren Victoria (Michael) Rivera, Kathryn Burdett, Hope Najar, Abigael (John) Swift, and Andria Najar, great-grandchildren Aleah, Anthony, and Elizabeth Rivera, Ava, Ethan, and Zach Minchuk, and Audrey Swift, sister Gerri Harrison, Portage, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Richard Burdett.
A visitation of JoAnn Burdett will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home – Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station. A morning visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday, December 11, 2010 directly at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2447, Putnum Street, Lake Station with a mass of Christian Burial being offered at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Memorials in JoAnn's memory may be made to Saint Francis Catholic Church.
