JOE L. BUCKLEY, age 93, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at home. Joe had been a Northwest Indiana resident since 1939 and was a US Army Veteran during WW II. He was a retired carpenter affiliated with Union Local # 1005 and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hobart. Joe was a member of the Hobart VFW Post #5365, Dunes Masonic Lodge #741, F.&A.M. and the Hobart Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, daughter, Shirley Sikora of Hobart, son, Jerry (Christine) Buckley of Florida, 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, brother, Jack (Marilyn) Buckley of Wichita, Kansas and sister, Laura Ball, also of Wichita, 4 step-children, Alan (Charlene) Warren of Portage, Scott (Marilyn) Warren of Wentzville, MO, Denise (Phil) McKee of Hobart and Barry Warren of Portage, numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Marie Cook Buckley in 1977, daughter, May Albrecht, brothers, Robert & Claude Buckley and sister, Ernestine Allen.
Funeral service will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Roberta Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville, Indiana.
