Joel Albert Deyoung

Joel Albert DeYoung, age 53, of Portage passed away Wednesday, May 24,2023. He was born on April 12, 1970, in Gary, Indiana to Albert and the late Ardith (nee Christians) DeYoung. Joel retired from Union Local 142 where he worked as a Diesel Mechanic. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Susan DeYoung of Portage, IN; two daughters, Dianna DeYoung of Wheatfield, IN and Elizabeth (Christopher) Bartley of Chicago, IL; Father, Albert DeYoung of Crown Point, IN; granddaughter Margeaux Bartley; three brothers, Andy (Jen) DeYoung of Munford, TN, Nathan (Janelle) DeYoung of Hebron, IN and Matthew DeYoung of Crown Point, IN; sister, Kathy (Jack) Huls of Crown Point, IN and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ardith DeYoung.

A memorial service for Joel will take place Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 5:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
