Obituary

Joel David Sullivan age 73, of Gary passed away Friday, February 17, 2023. He was born on March 20, 1949 in Hardin County, Tennessee to the late James and Robbie Sullivan. David graduated from the Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis. He was a dog lover and had a special place in his heart for rescuing Pugs and Mutts. He loved Elvis Presley and collecting antiques. His daughter will always have fond memories of him taking her to truck stop diners to eat as a child.

He is survived by his daughter, Bobbie Boharski of Moreno Valley, California; grandchildren, Paul Boharski of St. Petersburg, Florida, Amanda Boharski of Portland, Oregon, Tom Boharski of San Juan, Washington; great granddaughter, Ella; brothers, Barry (Peggy) Sullivan of Chesterton and Mark Sullivan of Syracuse, IN; sister-in-law, Debbie Rice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Robbie Sullivan and his brother, Mike Sullivan.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm at City of Refuge Christian Church, 5402 West US highway 6, Portage, IN with memorial visitation from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station, IN 46405. For more information, please call (219) 962-1606.
