JOHN A. ADAMSKI II, age 77, of Portage, and formerly of Chicago, IL. passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021.
John was born on July 14, 1943 in Chicago, IL to the late John I and Martha (nee Zelasko) Adamski. He was a graduate of St. Rita High School, earned his Bachelor's degree at Indiana State University, and received his Master's degree from Purdue North Central. It was at Indiana State where he met the love of his life, Janice (nee Lanier) Adamski. They married on August 26, 1967 and spent 48 years together until her death in 2016. John was an instructor of public speaking at Ivy Tech. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and loved Chicago sports, especially the White Sox, Bulls, and Blackhawks. John loved good food and enjoyed good restaurants. He had a passion for fine automobiles. John was a "south side boy" whose heart was devoted to his hometown of Chicago. Described as an exceptional speaker, very well educated, and often very funny, John will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his children: John Adamski III, Joe (Jill) Adamski, and Jocelyn (Brian Rabinowitz) Adamski; sister: Marianne (Tom) Lulinski; son-in-law: Derek Lewis; and grandchildren: Jemma Adamski, Damara, Derek Jr., Daja, and Donovan Lewis.
John is also preceded in death by his daughter: Jill (nee Adamski) Lewis.
Family and friends may gather on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel (5341 Central Ave. Portage). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. from Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (356 W. 700 N. Valparaiso) with Fr. Paul Quanz officiating. At rest Calvary Cemetery.
Due to state COVID-19 restrictions no more than 50 people may be allowed to attend at any one time. Masks are required while in the funeral home.
