John O. Chiabai, age 72, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at home. He was born on August 8, 1947 in Gary, Indiana to the late John and Regina Chiabai. John proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard. He was employed as a gas purchaser for NIPSCO. In his free-time, he enjoyed golfing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kay (nee Woods) Chiabai; son, John Chiabai; daughters, Sarah (Brian) Cafiero, Regina (Darren) Thompson; granddaughter, Calla; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Regina Chiabai; and one brother, Roger Chiabai.
