John Robert Hawkins, age 47, of Chesterton, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Addison Pointe where he resided. He was born on January 25, 1972 in Hammond, Indiana to Ginger and Darrell Hawkins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Hawkins. He leaves behind his mother, Ginger Hawkins; his sisters, Karen Hawkins, Jennifer (Chuck) Findley, Mary (Jon) Hawkins; brothers, Michael (Leslie) Hawkins, Jamie (Lisa) Hawkins, Richard Hawkins; and many loving nieces, nephews and his extended family at Addison Pointe.  John had many corny jokes and loved to tell them to everyone. He loved to go fishing with his brothers, and his laugh was contagious. We will miss you, John.

A funeral service for John will take place Friday, July 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. He will be laid to rest at Blake Cemetery in Portage.
