John A. Hurt

John A. Hurt, age 46, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso.  He was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on September 17, 1973 to Johnny and Shelia Hurt.  He was the Pastor at 29 ^th Ave. Baptist Church in Lake Station for 8 years.  John was a talented musician who sang and played guitar and piano.  He enjoyed tinkering and inventing things.

John is survived by his father, Johnny (Joyce) Hurt; mother, Shelia (nee Lawson) Hurt; children, Madison (KP Pondolfino) Hurt, Evan Hurt, Zachary Hinds, Cody Hinds, Skylar Hinds; sister, Theresa Hurt; and step brothers, Jerry, Chris & Tommy Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

A funeral service will take place Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Johnny Hurt and Rev. Lonnie Lawson officiating at the Light of Life Worship Center, 4901 E 28th Ave, Lake Station, IN 46405.
