JOHN F. JANIS, age 57, of Hobart, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at St Mary Medical Center in Hobart. John was a lifelong Hobart area resident and a US Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was an independent owner/operator semi-truck driver. John enjoyed fishing, camping, drag racing, NASCAR and the Indianapolis Colts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cherie (nee Moldovan) Janis, 3 children: Ronald (Kimmie) Moldovan of Hobart, Tara (Tony Nowasadski) Janis of Lake Station and Teresa Janis of Hobart, 5 grandchildren: Timothy "T.J.", Jessica, Jacob, Megan and Alyssa, great grandson, Elijah, 3 brothers, Leonard, Jr. (Toni) Janis of Burns Harbor, Russell (Sherry) Janis of Hobart and Albert Lee (Melisa) Janis of Hobart, many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard, Sr. & Mary Jane Janis, 2 brothers, Ronald & Michael Janis and sister, Barb Dunn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Chaplain Jim Stoel officiating.
