JOHN A. BRADACH, age 96, of Florida, formerly of Portage, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2010. John was born on January 20, 1914 to Michael and Cecelia Bradach in Gary, IN. He was a member of the US Army Air Corps and proudly served his country in the South Pacific during WWII. John was an employee of US Steel and retired after 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, Lodge 170 and the USWA Local 1066.
John is survived by his son, Ron (Jodi) Bradach of Parrish, FL; daughter, Carol Ammon of Muncie; 9 grandchildren, Greg (Laura) Bradach, Meredith (Dave) Chlupacek, Chrissy (Nate) Lee, Joey (Eric) Braden, Cara (Dave Taylor) Ammon, Ryan Ammon, John Ammon and Jennifer Ammon; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Charles Bradach; other loving family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2003, parents, Michael and Cecelia; grandson, Michael; 3 brothers, George, William, and Michael; 2 sisters, Goldie Schmidt and Frances Putz.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the National Kidney Foundation or the National MS Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 17, 2010 from 2-8 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 3 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
