John K. Levack, age 93, of Portage, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014. John was born in Airdrie, Scotland on January 15, 1921 to the late John and Isabella (nee Mac Kay) Levack. He proudly served his country in WW II in Europe in the United States Army. On February 22, 1944 John married the love of his life Evelyn Wampler in Gary, In. John was member of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Portage, and was a retired supervisor at USX. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father, uncle and friend.
John is survived by his loving wife of 70 yrs. Evelyn Levack of Portage; son, John "Rick" (Linda) Levack of Valparaiso; daughter, Janet Beth (Richard) Oldham of Valparaiso, four grandchildren, Rebecca Levack, Melinda (DJ) Hovis, Tammy (Shon) Ahrendt and Alicia Tucker; five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Alex, Ben, Kaden and Evan and many other loving family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his grandson, JC Baldwin, his parents, brother, William Levack and sister, Jessie Gondell.
Memorial contributions are preferred to Grace Church of the Nazarene.
A funeral service for John will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 5340 Clem Road, Portage with Pastor Mark Hostetler officiating. Burial will be held at Heritage Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave, Portage, In. 46368.
