John Wayne McDaniel, Sr. died in the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, Indiana on February 9, 2018 following an extended illness.  John was cared for by the love of his life, Kim Moore McDaniel for the last one and a half years.

He was the owner of J&S Asphalt Company in Portage, Indiana and a snowplowing business.

John was born in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina to Sgt. Calvin C. McDaniel and Dorothy E. (Griffin) McDaniel on August 27, 1950.

He lived most of his life in Lake Station and Portage, Indiana.

He is survived by his brother, three sisters, his children, and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, his parents, and step-father.

A graveside service is being planned later this spring.  He will be buried near his mother which was his desire in LaSalle, Illinois.
