JOHN RAYTER, age 78, of Hobart, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, while surrounded by his family. John was a longtime resident of Hobart, and retired from US Steel after many years of service. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, welding & building.
John is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughter, Melinda Rayter of Hobart; adopted daughter, Flo Bringas of Hobart; granddaughter, Katie Rayter of AZ; former daughter-in-law, Brenda; sisters-in-law, Regina Rayter of Hobart, Marta Herden of Germany; nephews, Harold and Dieter Herden; niece, Claudia Ratvan , all of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Michael Rayter; brothers, Rudy and Joseph Rayter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice or the Hobart Arts League.
A funeral service will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery.
