John C. Sawa, age 84, of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020 at home. He was born on September 14, 1935 in Gary, Indiana to the late Clemens and Jean Sawa. John retired in 1983 from US Steel where he worked as a Machinist Foreman. After he left US Steel, he worked for 26 years at ISA Manufacturing. John enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Boyle) Sawa; daughters, Susan Lemon, Nancy (Rick) Johnson; son, Jerry Sawa; grandchildren, Tricia, Jim, John, Josh and Jason. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Dunes Hospice for the care they provided for John.

He was preceded in death by his son, John; sister, Mary and brother, Daniel.

A private funeral service took place Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St. Winfield/ Crown Point, IN 46307.
