Ulysses John Vaughn Sr. "Doc", age 85, of Lake Station, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015. He was born on December 16, 1929 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Claud and Vera Vaughn.

John is survived by his sons: Donald Vaughn, Ulysses John (Cathy) Vaughn Jr., Steven (Gail) Vaughn all of Lake Station; daughters: Mary Vaughn, Patricia Minnich, Sandra Vaughn all of Lake Station; grandchildren: Jonathan, Dustyn, Michael, Brittany (fiance Mike), Amanda (Rowdy); one sister: Louetta Groves.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florence Vaughn; son: Claude Vaughn; son in law: Russell Minnich; 2 sisters; 3 brothers and his parents.

A funeral service for John will take place Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Chaplain Paul Newman-Jacobs officiating. He will be laid to rest at McCool Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
