John F. Trojan, age 70, of Hobart, IN passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015. He was born June 19, 1944 in Covington, Kentucky, son of the late Reverend Richard and Charlotte (Haynes) Trojan. John was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kathy Trojan; three children: John (Lisa) Trojan, Catherine (Bill) Archambeault and Dawn (David) Lane; two grandchildren: Steven and Kevin Archambeault; and his brother: Jim (Judy) Trojan.
John was one of the owners of the first 7-11 convenience store to open in Hobart and also spent many years working for the city. He would eventually fulfill his love of driving by obtaining his CDL license and becoming an interstate driver delivering goods and services to many businesses around the country. John was also known for his benevolence. This characteristic was never more evident when he willingly and without reserve went to New York City in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He spent several weeks at Ground Zero assisting in the search for survivors after the towers fell and also aiding in its recovery. No funeral services will be held in accordance with family wishes in lieu of a private ceremony.
