John J. Yzenas, Sr., age 90, of Hobart and formerly of Dickson City, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016. He was born on December 25, 1925 in Dickson City, PA to the late Anthony and Elizabeth Yzenas. He proudly served his nation as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. John retired from the Florida State School system where he was a shop teacher. He will always be remembered as a dedicated father, grandfather and friend.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia Yzenas; son, John (Cindy) Yzenas, Jr., step son, Neal (Patti) Davis; grandchildren, Robert (Nancy) Gasbarro, Tonya (Joe) Krisanda, Kristen (Vini) Ortiz, Lindsay Yzenas; John J. Yzenas III; and 4 great grandchildren, Logan, Marek, Isla, and Camila.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Elizabeth Yzenas; daughter, Terri Helen Yzenas; brothers, Thomas Yzenas, Frank Yzenas; sister, Helen Yzenas.
A memorial service for John will take place Monday, December 12, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff Street, Dickson City, PA 18519.
