Johnny Buchanan Adams, Jr., age 70, of Portage, formerly of Hobart, passed away on November 12, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center. Johnny was born on November 7, 1943 to Johnny and Beulah (nee Hall) Adams in Versailles, Kentucky. Johnny was a truck driver for 42 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved NASCAR.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Theresa (nee Wolfe) Adams; 7 children, Gary (Kamia) Adams, Jimmy (Donna) Adams, Sharon (Steve) Battson, Tina (Jerry) Watkins, Troy (Amy) Adams, Cathy (Tim Slater) Lewis and James (Ronda Randt) Picking; 24 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Ann (Les) Woolums, Margaret Phillips and Susie Marcum; 1 brother, Larry (Kathy) Adams; many nieces, nephews, other loving and supportive friends, and his dog Peanut.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, brother Stan Adams and grandson Tyler Rose.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or to The American Cancer Society or The American Diabetes Association.
A funeral service for Johnny will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342 with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Cremation will follow the service with Rees Funeral Home Cremation Services. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
