Jon Richard Francis Bertram

Jon Richard Francis Bertram of Hobart, Indiana went home to be with his Lord on Monday January 20, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1947, in Gary, Indiana to Ruth Borns Bertram and Merton James Bertram. Jon graduated from Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana. He was a retired high school science teacher and received his teaching certificate from Indiana University Northwest Campus and his PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Jon loved to paint, read, and travel, especially visiting and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Jon is survived by his wife Rhonda Pelsy Bertram of Hobart; his children, Jim (Erin) Bertram of Franklin, Tennessee, Tanya (Ben) Brown of Seattle, Washington, and Jon Paul Bertram of Hobart; his grandchildren, Brooks, Knox, and Carter Jean Bertram of Franklin, Tennessee; stepsons, Jason (Stephanie) Summerhill, and Justin Summerhill all of Hobart.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mark Bertram; his companion, LaVonne Sharon of Galesville, Wisconsin.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday January 25, 2025, from 2-3 pm at Rees Funeral Home 600 West Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. A memorial service will follow immediately at 3 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ben Hixson officiating.
