Jon Kevin Van Der Giessen

Jon Kevin Van Der Giessen, age 64, of Portage passed away Wednesday December 21, 2022, at the Lincolnshire Healthcare Center in Merrillville. Jon was born February 20, 1958, in Hammond, Indiana to William and Charlene (Nagy) Van Der Giessen. Jay was a concrete cutter retired from J.E.M. Construction Company. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Portage and the MS Society.

Jon is survived by his father, William (Darleen) Van Der Giessen of Port Clinton, OH; five brothers and sisters, William Van Der Giessen of Sherman, TX, Kerry (James) Richardson of Hammond, James (Mary) Ebel of Oak Harbor, OH, Susan (Andy) Matrisciano of Hillsboro Beach, FL, and Barbara Jo (Dan) Lowe of Port Clinton, OH; a daughter, Catherine Van Der Giessen-Campbell of Chesterton; two grandchildren, Ayden Campbell and Emma Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine (Fulton) Van Der Giessen; and his mother, Charlene Bell.

Jon will be cremated and a service of Christian Burial will be followed by interment in the Catawba Island cemetery in Ohio.
