Jose A. "Tony" Perez

Age 80, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. He was born on May 8, 1944, to the late Isias and Vicenta (nee Velez) Perez in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He married the love of his life Teresa Moreno on June 2, 1982. He was a member of Hobart Assembly Church and retired from Globe Building, in Whiting, Indiana, where he worked in production. Tony was a jack of all trades, an avid deer hunter and was a talented mechanic. Most of all, Tony loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friends.

Tony is survived by his wife of 41 years, Teresa (nee Moreno) Perez; four sons, Johnny (Marie) Perez, Robert Perez, Anthony (Mary) Perez Jr. and Richard (Angelique) Peluyera; two daughters, Christie Perez and Letty (Benjamin) Medina; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Marina (Harvey) Lewis and many other loving family members and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Isias Perez; his mother, Vicenta Perez and two sisters, Maria and Gloria Perez.

A funeral service for Tony will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.  Visitation for Tony will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 2:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
