Jose Luis Alvarez, Jr., age 20, of Hobart passed away Monday December 16, 2024. Jose was born June 24, 2004, in Merrillville, Indiana. He was a correctional officer at the Westville Correctional Facility. He also had recently enlisted in the Indiana National Guard. Jose loved working out, football, and listening to music.

He is survived by his mother, Tammy Alvarez; four siblings, Tianna Hernandez, Jack Zambrana, Jr., Serena Zambrana, and Alexus Alvarez; many nieces and nephews; and several dear friends and other relatives.

Visitation for Jose will be Friday December 20, 2024, from 2-8 pm at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342 additional visitation will be Saturday from 10 am until the time of services. His Funeral Service will be Saturday December 21, 2024, at 11 am at the Funeral Home.
