Jose A. Santos, age 81, of Valparaiso passed away Sunday March 9, 2014 in the Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana. Jose was a retired steelworker. He retired from LTV Steel in 1983. Jose was born March 3, 1933 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to the late Pablo and Concepcion (Fuentes) Santos.
Jose was the Patriarch of his family and will be greatly missed by them.

He is survived by his three children Jose (Carmen) Santos of Valparaiso, Ismael (Yolanda) Santos of Greenwood and Noemi (Roberto) Rios of Greenwood; seven grandchildren Hipolito (Karina) Mojica, Adam (Holly) Santos, Yoliani Santos, Jose Santos, Melissa Rios, Gabriel Rios and Ricardo Santos; three great grandchildren Maria, Alexis and Amber Mojica; four siblings Leo (Meline) Santos, Luisa (Celestino) Flores, Enrique (Nereida) Santos and Maria I. Fuentes.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Mercedes.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday March 14, 2014 at Rees Funeral Home 600 Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Minister Manuel Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 pm at the funeral home.
