Joseph R. Harbison, age 75, of Portage, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020. He was born on July 21, 1945 in Gary, Indiana to Bertis and Ruby Harbison. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Joe was employed as a carpenter. He was a member of the Carpenter and Millwright local #1005 and the American Legion Post #260 in Portage. He was a good husband, father and provider for his family. He will always be remembered as a great friend.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Harbison; sons, Shawn Smith, Chris Harbison, Billy Harbison; seven grandchildren; sisters, Sue (Gary) Hott, Cindy (Scott) Bencie, Linda Kaechle; his beloved Shi Zu Pug, Mimi; many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Harbison; father, Bertis Harbison; mother, Ruby Guill; stepfather, Red Guill; sister, Jeanette Braden; brother, Jerry Harbison; sister-in-law, Amy Harbison.
