JOSEPH M. McGEE, age 74, of Lake Station, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at Sebo's Nursing and Rehab in Hobart. He was retired from US Steel and was a member of American Legion Post 260 in Portage, Indiana. Joe enjoyed attending church with friends. He also loved gardening and song birds.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dovie B. McGee and brothers Richard W. McGee and Gene E. Martin.

Survived by his sisters, Linda (Herbert) Green of Raleigh, North Carolina and Nellie Stone of Franklin, Indiana and sister-in-law Wanda Martin of El Paso, Texas. Nephews and nieces Philip (Ines) Stone of Hialeah, Florida, James (Chris) Stone, Jr. of Kankakee, Illinois, Keith (Amy) Martin of Austin, Texas, Todd Martin of Moore, Oklahoma, Curtis (Andrea) Martin of San Antonio, Texas, April (Everett) Goings of Warren, Indiana, Shawn (Jennifer) Green of Indianapolis, Indiana and Heather (Derek) Scott of Raleigh, North Carolina. Many great nephews and nieces. Also surviving is special friend and legal guardian, Attorney Thomas K. Hoffman of Merrillville, Indiana.
