Obituary

Joseph Pollak, 88, formerly of Lakes of the Four Seasons, passed away October 26 with his family at his side at Valparaiso Care and Rehab after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's. Joe was born the youngest of 11 children, in Gary, to Samuel and Mary (Nastonovich) Pollak. Joe served in the Army during WWII. He was co-owner of Gary Heating, owner of Calumet Dealers Service and manager of Lennertz Fireplace.

Joe's greatest joy was his family and is survived by his wife, Joan (Sapino) of 65 years; daughters, Jenifer (Daryl) Meyer of Huron, Ohio and Gail (Michael) Day of Green Springs, Ohio; granddaughters, Alex and Ashleigh Osterling and many nieces and nephews.

Joe had a passion for gardening having received many awards including 3 Yard-Of-The-Month awards from Lakes of the Four Seasons. His gardens were on the garden walk and home was part of the Tour-of-Homes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Harbor Light Hospice, 1229 Arrowhead Ct., Crown Point, IN   46307.
