Joseph M. Ross, "Joe", age 58, of Portage, IN passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023.

Joe was born on March 19, 1964 in Gary, IN to the late Garey Lee Ross and Jenine Marie Butkiewicz (nee Ryan).  He worked for many years as a truck driver.  Joe served his country during the Persian Gulf War and was a proud Army veteran.  He loved to ride dirt bikes and go to supercross races.  Joe would spend hours on end studying religions through podcasts and enjoyed playing poker.  He loved his family and the family reunions that they would host.  Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by his son: Austin Harley Ross; sisters: Kelly Zimmerman and Annie Ross; life partner: Sharon Weyant; children he raised: James, Jeremy, Joseph, Jason, and Louise Blatz; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-granddaughters with 2 great-grandsons on the way; step-mother: Mary Ross; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved cats: Nikki Sixx and Tigger.

Joe is preceded in death by his infant son; his parents: Garey and Jenine; siblings: Mary, Lori, and Mike; and step-father: Jim Butkiewicz.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel (5241 Central Ave., Portage) on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.  A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Don Taylor officiating.  Joe will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
