J oseph James Woodruff

Age 15, of Portage passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at Riley Children's Hospital. He was born July 1, 2007, to Allyson Wright and Joseph Coleman in Valparaiso, Indiana. Joseph spent his life being loved and cared for by his family, his abilities were limited but the love his family had for him was unconditional.

He is survived by his mother, Allyson (Billy) Wright; father, Joseph Coleman; sisters, Adysn and Autumn Coleman; brother, Lukas Coleman; stepbrother, Roland Wright; maternal grandparents, James and Lori Woodruff; paternal grandparents, Jeff (Priscilla) Coleman and Vikki (Paul) Hegan; great grandparents, Jerry and Donna Evans; Uncles, Nathen Woodruff, Mike and Josh Coleman and Kenny Gregory; Aunts, Alexis Cox and Valerie Coleman.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents,, Allen B. Woodruff, Judy L. Cody, Leo N. DePrekel, Adeline B. DePrekel, Billy Joe Coleman, Barb Coleman, and MaryLou Cieslak; uncle, Stephen Evans; two cousins, Vincent Cox and Lily Pagan; and great aunt, Mary Jane Shepherd.

A funeral service for Joseph will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Allen Wright officiating at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368. Cremation will follow. A visitation will be held Friday, May 19,2023 from 4:00 pm until the time of service also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
