Juan DeJesus Leon, age 89, of Lake Station passed away Friday December 10, 2021, at his home. Juan was born June 24, 1932 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico to the late Juan and Juana DeJesus. He retired from Youngstown Steel Company where he worked as a mechanic. He was a White Sox fan and enjoyed watching professional wrestling. He was an accomplished Dominos player winning several trophies.
He is survived by his four children, Juan (Deborah) DeJesus, Jr. of Newport News, VA, Margarita (Thomas) Meltzer of Lake Station, Yolanda (Tony) Torres of Hammond, and Rosa (Ambrosio) Calo of Merrillville; several grandchildren, Hector Medina, Jr., Anthony Medina, David Recio, Carmen Gonzalez, Arthur DeLeon, Jessica DeJesus, Juan C. DeJesus, Richard DeLeon, Thomas Meltzer, Jr., and Jessica Domikaitis; great grandchildren, Noah Medina, David Recio Jr., Magdalayna Sesniak, Amelia Recio, Maricella Delgado, Elonzo Delgado, Anthony Medina, Jr., Xavier Delgado and Hector Medina, III; his brother, Matin DeJesus of Milwaukee Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carmen Martinez, and several siblings.
Visitation will be Thursday December 16, 2021, from 2-8 pm at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11:00 am Friday at St. Francis-Xavier Church 2447 Putnam Street Lake Station, Indiana 46405. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
