Juan G. Marquez, age 89, of DeMotte, Indiana passed away Tuesday August 10, 2021, at Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point.  Juan was born February 14, 1932, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Aurelio and Elijia (Guardado) Marquez.  He was a butcher retiring from John Moreales Meat Packing Company.  Juan was a beloved family man and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Station.

Juan is survived by his four children, John (Mariaelena) Marquez, Olga (Sergio) Cortez, Irma (Frank) O'Neil, and Rosalie Marquez; also surviving are numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Juan was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lupe; his son, Samuel Marquez; his parents; and fifteen brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Thursday August 19, 2021, with 9:15 am prayers at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana, 46342 and process to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2447 Putman Street, Lake Station, Indiana for a 10:00 am Mass Celebration by Rev. Jaime Perea.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Portage, Indiana. Visitation for Juan will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday August 18, 2021, at the Funeral Home.
