Juanita M. Sheely

Juanita M. Sheely (nee Evetts), "Nita", age 91, of Lake Station, IN and formerly of Corinth, MI, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

Juanita was born on August 27, 1931 in Corinth, Mississippi to the late Earl and Myrtle Evetts.  She was married to Wilbert Dean Sheely in 1955 and spent 40 years together until his passing in 1995.  Nita was a dutiful homemaker, caring for her children and her home.  She was very involved with her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.  Juanita was always there when you needed her.  She is a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Juanita is survived by her children: Curt (Sophia) Sheely of Portage, IN and Taresa (late Willis Elmer, Jr. "Junior") Chitwood of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren: Tina (Eddie) Heath of Lafayette, IN, Amanda (Jesse) Jones of Hunstville, AL, and Willis (Michelle) Chitwood, III of Longview, TX; 8 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Juanita is preceded in death by her husband: Dean; grandson: Curt Sheely, Jr.; parents: Earl and Myrtle; siblings: Elizabeth Mezaros, James Evetts, Melvin Evetts, George Evetts, Earl Evetts, Jr., and Clayton Evetts; and son-in-law: Willis Elmer "Junior" Chitwood, Jr.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel (5341 Central Ave., Portage) on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 3:00-7:00 P.M.  A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from Rees Olson Chapel at 11:00 A.M.  Juanita will be laid to rest next to her husband at Graceland Cemetery.
