JUDIA H. COUTURE, age 81, of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at home. Judia was born on July 5, 1929 in Alton, IL to Bertha and Alfonso Newcome. Judia was a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working on ceramics.

She is survived by her son, Rene (Kathy) Couture of Hobart, daughters, Claudette (John) Johnson and Jackie (Dennis) Soohey, all of Valparaiso, 8 grandchildren: Christy (Keith) Biggerstaff, Jennifer (Ryan) Hobson, Joy (David) Greenwell, Jill (Kai) Orel, Denelle (Mark) Key, Christal (Rob) Charbonneau, Michelle Couture, Justin Couture, 1 step grandchild, Thomas (Lisa) Bryant, 8 great grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dona F. Couture and her parents.

In lieu of flowers donations to Horton VNA Hospice would be appreciated.

Private funeral services and visitation were held Monday, March 7, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with Deacon Bob Bonta officiating.
