Judith Marie Yanez

On September 6, 2024, Judith, a 73-year-old resident of Lake Station, passed away at her home. She was born to the late Ralph and Edna Sheridan on January 18, 1951.  Judith and Carlos Yanez entered matrimony on July 15, 1995, and shared a loving union for 29 years. She retired from Dyer Auto Auction where she worked as an office administrator. Judith had a diverse range of interests, including painting, creating floral arrangements, collecting clocks, supporting the Black Hawks, caring for feral cats, and collecting precious moments and hallmark decorations. Her love for her husband Carlos was evident, and she took great pleasure in spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Carlos Yanez; two sons, Larry Riffit and Jason Johnson; three grandchildren, Kourtney Aweidah, Caleb Johnson and Nicky Aweidah; three sisters-in-law, Susanna Yanez, Lucy Yanez and Evelia (Bill Pritchard) Acevez; loving and devoted cousin, Rosalie "Lita" Serrano; numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends.

Judith was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Aweidah; mother, Edna (nee Starkey) Sheridan, father, Ralph Sheridan; four sisters, Sue, Ruthie, Margaret and Caroline; brother, Jackie; two brothers-in-law, Armando Yanez Jr. and Ben Yanez; and sister-in-law, Mina Jaroscak.

A funeral service for Judith will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, Indiana 46368. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
