Julie Dolato passed away peacefully on the evening of November 15, 2025. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Sara Stafford; her grandson, Adam Tolin; and her granddaughters, Emma Hurley and Ava McKinney. She is also survived by her siblings Paula (Rick) Burmeister, Denise (Douglas Sr.) Barnes, and Joe (Page) Dobrowolski, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Pauline Dobrowolski.
Julie devoted her life to serving others. She proudly served in the United States military and went on to build a distinguished career as a firefighter and paramedic for the City of Gary. Her dedication to public service reflected the compassion, courage, and strength that defined her.
Julie was the kind of person who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She embraced life fully, finding joy in gardening, caring for animals, and spending time in nature. Her warm spirit, generosity, and vibrant presence touched countless lives.
Though her battle has come to an end, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace. Julie will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Julie's Life will begin with a memorial visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday November 20, 2025, at Crown of Life Church, 2825 E. Cleveland Ave., Hobart, Indiana 46342. A memorial service, including military honors, will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church.
Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, assisted with arrangements.
