Karen Lynn Brewer (Nee Abramson) age 59 of Crown Point, Indiana passed away Monday, December 23, 2013. She was born on January 31, 1954 in Gary, Indiana to the late Arthur L. and Phyllis Abramson. Karen was a longtime Crown Point resident and an active member of Hobart Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Hobart Presbyterian Church Choir and she also served as a substitute organist, Sunday School Superintendent, and as Head of Vacation Bible School. Karen also served as a caretaker in Florida for the past 15 months. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Karen loved karaoke and playing the accordion.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth R. Brewer of Crown Point, IN; 1 son, Kenneth Randall Brewer II of Hammond, IN; 3 step-daughters, Kristi Michelle (Martin) Clowers, Tara Denise Brewer, and Kendra Leigh (Chris) Boyd all of Cleveland, TN; 1 brother, Chriss Abramson of Crown Point, IN; 2 sisters, Terri Bowers of OK; Kathy Joan (Tony) Brewer of Crown Point, IN; and 6 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Thomas and Leonard George Abramson.

Funeral Services are Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 11 a.m.(Note Change in Day) at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Jeffrey Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
