Karen J. O'Connor (nee Jones)

age 71 passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013. She was born on November 9, 1941 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Donald and Julia Jones. She was a graduate of Thorton Fractional South and was a member of Thorton Fractional Alumni Association. Following High School she was first employed with Western Electric in Chicago. Karen was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lansing and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Highland. She was an active volunteer and dedicated caretaker at the Golden Living Center Fountainview Place in Portage. She loved traveling and her antiques. Karen will be deeply missed by all of those that knew her and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and friend who thought of others above herself.

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. O'Connor of Portage, IN; 1 daughter, Jorie A. (Michael) Coll of Eagan, MN; 1 son, Scott C. (Tami) O'Connor of Spring Grove, IL; 1 brother, Jeffrey (Carol) Jones and family of Hobart, IN; 3 cousins, Elaine (Larry) Wozny, Mildred (Ray) Abell and Julie Adamo; 1 Sister in law Sharron Lucietta; 2 brothers in law, Jack (Kate) O'Conner and Donald (Susan) O'Conner and beloved canine companion, Katie.

Funeral services are Saturday June 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Pastor Art Burkman officiating. Cremation will follow with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation is Friday, June 21, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
