Karen M. Peksenak

Karen M. Peksenak (nee McClaran), age 63, a longtime Hobart resident, formerly of Portage, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026. She was born on March 3, 1963, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Robert and Jean McClaran. Karen worked as a Pet Groomer and was a member of the Portage Missionary Baptist Church. She supported many causes and donated to many charities. Karen was very energetic and loved to go shopping, loved going to garage sales and had a passion for her antiques. She was very outgoing and made friends with everyone she came in contact with. She would light up a room with her smile.

She is survived by four children, Robert (Dawn Eidman) Peksenak of Portage, IN; Kristy (Garth Driver) Peksenak of Wheeler, IN; Andrew Peksenak of Portage, IN; Matthew Peksenak of Hobart, IN; three sisters, Denita (William) Buchanan of Silver Lake, MI; Debbie (John) Scarbrough of Portage, IN; Christine McClaran-Danielson of Rochester, IN; five grandchildren, Angelique, Quade, Skyler, Marcus, and Taylor.

Funeral Services are Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, with Rev. Mitchell Tabla officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation is Saturday, April 18, 2026, just prior to the service from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. (219) 942-2109.
