Kasey John Whalen Sr., age 31, of Portage, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015. He was born on February 16, 1983 in Hobart, Indiana to John Whalen and Linda Brown. Kasey was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1005. In his free time, he enjoyed things like fishing and dancing and had a knack for making people laugh. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. He will always be remembered as a loving father, son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend to so many.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Brown; father, John Robert (Cindy) Whalen; son, Kasey John Whalen Jr.; sisters, Misty (John Bergner) Whalen, Nikki (Bill) Schultz; brother, Nathan Harper; maternal grandmother, Shirley Pfeffer; nephews, Mason Adams, Austin and Gavyn Schultz; many beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Anderson; paternal grandparents, Jean and Jack R. Whalen; step father, Rob "Big Daddy" Brown; and best friend, Mark Chapman.
Memorial contributions in Kasey's name may be made to the family for his son, Kasey Jr.

To honor Kasey's wishes there will be no formal funeral services. A celebration of life party will be announced at a later date and all those who knew him are encouraged to attend.
