Katherine "Katie" M. Gymrek, age 85, of Hobart passed away Tuesday January 1, 2013. She was born April 23, 1927 in Gary, Indiana to the late Walter J. and Beulah M. (Ware) Pictor. On June 18, 1949 she married Casey H. Gymrek in Gary, Indiana. She was a Beautician working at Beverly's Beauty Salon and a former employee of Gary Screw and Bolt. She was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Hobart. She was also a member of TOPS and was an activities volunteer at the Hobart Millers Merry Manor.

Katie is survived by her son Kenneth R. (Dolly) Gymrek of Hobart; two brothers Robert (Dorothy) Pictor of Valparaiso and Norman (Carol) Pictor of Franklin, TN; sister-in-law Elaine Pictor of Fairfield, OH; seven grandchildren Kenny, Phillip, Melissa, Megan, Mike, Matt and Casey; one great grandchild Jade; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband in 2007, parents, son Ronald Gymrek and her brother Donald Pictor.

A mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday January 4, 2013 beginning with 9:30 am prayers at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road and then to St. Bridget Catholic Church 568 E. 2nd Street at 10 am with Father Dominic V. Bertino officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Thursday January 3, 2013 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be shared with Katie's family.
