Katherine I. "Kate" Mace, age 89, of Hobart, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at St. Anthony Hospital in Crown Point. She was born October 4, 1924 in Gary, Indiana to the late John and Sarah (nee Osham) David. Kate was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart, a member of Northwest Indiana Retirement Association, St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary, Methodist Hospital Colostomy Association, and Mother's Circle of Trinity Lutheran. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Kate is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Ann (David) Bode of Crown Point and Kathie Lynn (Fred) Dobrian of Anaheim, CA.; three grandchildren, Robert William Smith, Dawn Marie Smith and Amy Dobrian; three sisters, Helen Brooks of Hobart, Ann Frank of Crown Point and Minnie Gray of Columbus, IN; and brother, Mike (Wanda) David of The Villages Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Mace; her parents; siblings, Tom David, Olga Stewart, John David and Frieda Kayes.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 26, 2014, at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN. 46342, with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 3:00-6:00 pm with 4:00 pm St. Mary's Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary service at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN.
