Kathleen A. Barlog, age 74, of Hobart was called home while surrounded by her family and close friends. Kathleen earned her wings on Tuesday December 19, 2023. On 12/21/2023 Kathleen took her Honor walk to be an organ donor. Kathleen was born with a heart of gold on June 16, 1949, in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Norbert and Betty (Ray) Knight. Kathleen retired from St Mary Medical Center with over 42 years of service as an LPN. Kathleen was a devoted member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. She was a member of the church choir, LIA, and RCIA. She enjoyed spending time at the Maria Reiner Center. Loved playing cards with her family and the Card Club of the Lake Park Senior Apartments. Kathleen was a very strong, kind, loving, delightful and very generous person. She found joy in the simple things of life.
She is survived by her two children, Andrew Barlog of Chesterton and Rebecca (Pablo) Barlog-Hugarte of Hobart; grandchildren Eric Burks, Jr., Barry (Soraya) Clanton, Jr., Andrew Barlog II, Madison Elizabeth Barlog, and Jacquline Olivia Elizabeth Barlog-Hugarte; a great grandson Barry Clanton III; her brother, Nortbert (Mary) Knight, Jr.; her sisters, Peggy Goolsby and Trish DeGroot; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Cantrell, and Nancy Ann Jendraszkiewicz; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Jendraszkiewicz and Bob DeGroot.
A Memorial Visitation for Kathleen will be held from 3-8 pm Tuesday December 26, 2023, at Rees Funeral Home 600 Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday December 27, 2023, 10AM at Assumption BVM Catholic Church with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating.
